1964 356 SC Porsche Restored
This ivory 1964 356 SC sun roof Porsche took several years to restore. I convinced the owner to restore the car after he purchased it as a part car for a 1963 Carrera II he  acquired and in the parts to restore the Carrera II.  The photo of the car is just prior to going to upholster, the interior was meticulously sheathed in a butter soft red leather by Autobahn interiors in San Diego. A full ground up restoration was completed on this car. When it was purchased as a parts car, it was fairly complete but neglected from years of idleness. The car was red typically the resale red color, the interior was shabby, the chrome was pitted and needless to say, there was a lot of rust. After stripping the car of the mechanical parts we moved on to removing the interior and all sound and insulation material. We installed the car on a rotisserie and proceeded to media blast all painting and undercoating to the bare metal. The car was then painted with a two part epoxy sealer which would prevent further rusting. We then determine what sheet metal parts needed to be ordered and proceeded with removing the structural components that were rusted including the floor pan.

Rust repairs to a 356 Porsche

You can see from the photo the car had considerable rust but that’s typical for any 356 Porsche. Because this car was both a sunroof coupe and a SC, it was considered a good candidate for restoration.
